From Alfa To Omega Episode 7: On the road for parts – The scooter gets a second life

Welcome to episode 7 of our "From Alfa to Omega" swap series! This time, it's all about one goal: getting the scooter back in tip-top condition, so we're one step closer to our ultimate goal: an Omega Speedmaster.

We begin this episode at IJselmotoren in IJsselmuiden, not coincidentally the same place where our scooter left the factory 23 years ago. The excitement is building, because hopefully, the necessary parts will be ready and waiting for us. And indeed: the people at IJselmotoren not only have a few scrap parts for us, but also help us order brand new ones. Everything to get the scooter running as smoothly as possible again!

The coming days will be all about tinkering. Old and new parts will be combined, all with a healthy dose of perseverance and improvisation. Every screw that comes loose, every ring that's replaced, brings us closer. It's always special to see how something old—with a little attention and the right parts—can become like new again.

Thanks to a clever swap where we sold an inverter, we even have money available to buy additional parts. So the adventure continues: what started with a key ring is now getting more serious.

And then the moment has arrived: the scooter is finally finished! Everything works as it should again, and it looks fantastic. A milestone for us, because a properly functioning scooter is the only way to truly take steps toward that coveted Omega watch. It's not just a matter of equipment, but especially of perseverance and seizing every opportunity that comes along.
